An intimate look into the correspondence of two friends

KITCHENER-WATERLOO: Nothing expresses how you feel better than a love letter. The power and romance of the written word is portrayed in J.M. Drama's production of Love Letters by A.R. Gurney from March 17-20 in the Oak Room at the Walper Terrace Hotel. Tickets are $8 ($7 for seniors and students on March 17 only) and may be ordered in advance by calling J.M. Drama's brand new Ticket Hotline: 741-5089.

Love Letters tells the tale of a couple's lifelong relationship through correspondence. Andrew Makepeace Ladd and Melissa Gardener's relationship begins in second grade and carries through into middle age. It's a story of a poignantly funny friendship and an ill-fated romance.

This play presents the directorial debut of J.M. Drama veteran Frank Neary. It features a strong cast. Mary McCullum Baldasaro, the Chairman/Mayor Sapsea in J.M. Drama's 1998 production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood, co-stars as Melissa Gardner. Co-starring as Andrew Makepeace Ladd is Allan Hoch. Currently J.M. Drama's Technical Director, Allan has appeared in many productions dating back to J.M. Drama's 1987 production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.

Neary is excited about what the venue adds to the play. "The atmosphere of the venue is perfect. The audience should feel as though they are sitting in the same room where the characters wrote and read their letters. It'll help provide an intimate glance into this special relationship."
